Moscow court: Meta challenges 2 bln rbl turnover-based fine
MOSCOW, Jan 18 (PRIME) -- Meta Platforms, which owns social networks Facebook and Instagram, has contested a turnover-based fine of almost 2 billion rubles imposed by a Russian court for non-deletion of banned information, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court press secretary Zulfia Gurinchuk told PRIME on Tuesday.
“The court received the appeal,” Gurinchuk said, adding that the date of hearing is yet to be set.
In December, the country imposed its first turnover-based fine when the court claimed 7.2 billion rubles from Google for repeated non-deletion of banned information. Several hours later, Meta received a 2 billion ruble turnover-based fine as well.
